Cardboard boat racers take to water

Amateur boat-builders took to the water, paddled, and sank in a variety of vessels — made out of cardboard. Teams of people from Plymouth were challenged to design, build and set sail in a cardboard boat on Saturday as part of a project to raise the profile of engineering.
The event was the city's first cardboard boat regatta run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Devon and Cornwall's Young Members' Panel, at the Mayflower Sailing Club, Madeira Road, Plymouth. Read More:
While cardboard is indeed a lightweight, cheap and easy to work with material there is a building method nearly as easy. Plywood is a fantastic material that can be easily made into a water craft, check Sailboat Plans out for how it's done.
